Who will become the new face of Wellington?Meet new friends and gain some valuable new life skills
Casting no. 165864 - Wellington, NZ
The winner of Miss Wellington 2010 will have paid entry into the regional final. There is a 6 week training period where all contestants work with industry professionals covering hair, make-up, health and fitness, cat walk, deportment, attend a photo shoot as well as attend presentation skills workshops - a skill that will help them throughout their lives. All workshops are out of school and working hours. A final gala evening will be at the Wellington Town Hall in October which all contestants become part of the fully choreographed show with other wonderful entertainers. There is so much personal growth to be gained to take with you throughout life and not to mention some great prizes. Miss Wellington 2010 Regan Hillyer recently represented Wellington at Miss Universe New Zealand: I've just finished up with the Miss Universe New Zealand Pageant and wow, what an amazing experience it was! The 13 finalists from all over New Zealand came to Wellington for a week and we were lucky enough to stay at the gorgeous Museum Hotel. Now most people think that we just turn up on the final night, dance around, look pretty and smile lots...but believe me when I say that the last week was one of the most hectic weeks of my life! We were up at 6am every morning and didn't get to bed before 1am most nights! Our days were filled with dance rehearsals as well as workshops about hair, makeup and styling. The rest of the time we were rushing around Wellington attending various events and public appearances. During the week, we were fortunate enough to have lunch with The Major and we also went to Parliament and met John Key! There was constant media surrounding us - newspaper reporters, radio, TV. It was a constant buzz! On the Friday night we had prejudging. We were required to do our swimwear dance (which was filmed live on TV on Close Up!) and model our cocktail wear, as well as publicly saying a few things about ourselves. Later that night we had individual interviews with the panel of 5 judges where they really put us to the test! The grand final was on the Saturday night and were required to perform our group dance, our swimwear routine, a fashion catwalk section and finally we were to model our beautiful evening wear gowns. It was a night of glamour and elegance. Ria Van Dyke was crowned Miss New Zealand 2010 and I am so happy for her as she is such an amazing person who will do us proud in the Miss Universe Pageant in Los Vegas this year. I was crowned as Miss Photogenic which was a complete honour when I was standing amongst 13 of the most beautiful girls in New Zealand! The Miss Universe New Zealand Pageant experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity that has been made available to me through the lovely Glenn London, the Miss Wellington Pageant Director. To all you girls considering entering Miss Wellington, please do! I can guarantee you that if you take the crown and move forward to enter Miss New Zealand, Glenn will be there all the way to help and support you through your amazing journey Note: All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
