This group of 10-12 people will meet weekly, on Sunday afternoons, to work in a range of theatrical styles together. We’ll improvise, use script and delve into exercises from practitioners such as Meisner, Stanislavsky, Grotowski, as well as experimenting with the limits of sound, lighting and AV within theatre. There will be a focus on group play, trust and co-operation, alongside individual performance skills and presence. While Magical Mystery Co’s artistic director Harley Hefford will plan and facilitate the sessions, other members of The Mysterians will be encouraged to bring in exercises and ideas to the table. This would suit people who are interested in having a regular space to play and experiment with their acting craft, as well as building close connections with a small acting ensemble.
As well as these weekly explorations, The Mysterians will form the cast of two Magical Mystery Co projects for the year, one which uses an existing contemporary play script as a starting point, and one which is devised from thoughts and concepts close to the heart of the people within the group. These will be performed roughly in late June and late October 2020.
If you are interested in being part of The Mysterians, please get in touch - auditions to come in November.
Audition / Rehearsal / Production datesSunday afternoons in 2020.
This job is unpaid
During the first quarter of the year, the focus will be purely on the rehearsal room - doing impulse work and building trust, skills and ensemble strength together. In about April, we'll choose an existing play script to create our own work from in June. In July, we'll begin devising a piece to be performed in late October.
Anyone, aged 18 and over
