Extras & Supporting Actors
The movie is casting for Extras, Supporting Artists & Character Actors of all ages 18+ to appear in the dramatic audience reactions scenes taking place at a Social Club close to central Manchester over five days of filming, one night shoot 10pm to 1am, the other days either weekdays or weekends.
They are required to play dramatic, interacting audience members for the Comedy Musical Drama set in the early 1960’s. Extras & aspiring actors without any acting experience are also welcome to apply.
Extras actors would need to dress in clothing that would fit in with the early 1960’s, the ladies might like to have their fun dressing up in the style of the early 1960’s with beehive hairstyles & period clothes and makeup.
There should be an opportunity for most, if not all of the extras to appear prominently (with many closeups of faces.)
Based on a true story, partly autobiographical, and set in the early 1960s in Manchester, the story centres on a rather unforgettable trip for 54 year old, undiscovered singer songwriter Paul, who ventures into the audience at Bernard Manning’s club to experience an evening’s entertainment of comedy & music.
But what starts off as a night of controversial comedy from Manning, gradually unfolds into a series of bizarre, surreal and unexplainable events involving politically incorrect conduct, chaos, confusion, farce, absurdist incidents and unexpectedly jaw-dropping surprises.
Many puzzling questions inescapably arise, such as ; why are the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and Laurel & Hardy still unknown & without any success in showbusiness, and why are they all looking for their first big break on the same dingy evening at Bernard Manning’s modest little club in the wrong, deprived part of urban Manchester?
Is Paul about to get his own big break, taking over on stage when an unknown and disillusioned 54 year old Elvis Presley’s precarious pelvis forces him to prematurely halt his performance in agony and leave the building?
Is Paul about to personally rewrite the shape and history of culture and pop music legend?
The film combines elements of Back To The Future, The Wizard of Oz and Wierd Al Yankovic with moments of moving drama interweaving surreal, slapstick and physical comedy. Credits for some of the lead actors already cast include: Captain America: The First Avenger, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, Sweeney Todd, Avenue Q.
The movie is being shot in both black and white and colour on 4K digital cine cameras. It will be entered for International Film Festivals with a view to acquiring worldwide distribution and features several songs (original and Classic hits), music and special effects.
Because of the production’s Very Low Budget status as an independent British feature film, the Extras and Supporting Artists will be paid a full industry daily rate of £100 that is deferred with a contract but not paid until the movie secures distribution, and then additional bonuses from the movie’s future Gross earnings will be paid.
The Extras and supporting cast will receive tickets for the cinema screening plus a closing titles credit. There will be refreshments throughout the day on set. Travel expenses may be available for a few extras travelling long distances in GB subject to demand but the Extras roles would probably suit local actors or those just travelling smaller distances to the locations in Manchester.
Production Accountants will distribute future payments and all cast and crew will be able to regularly receive and inspect the accounts.
