Jill is a character who acts out of desperation for what she had grown up without. She has experienced a traumatic past in regards to her upbringing. This is due to her mother having accidentally killed her father at the age of 9 during an argument. Her mother had left her and she was raised by her grandparents and home schooled for a large majority of her life. She is incredibly envious of the Hamptons family. She believes that by forcefully marrying Joel she is becoming part of the family.
