The ground starts shaking, cracks appear, and buildings come crumbling down – these are some of the tell-tale signs of an earthquake. Earthquakes strike almost completely without warning, making them one of the most deadly and destructive natural disasters on Earth.

Volcanoes are majestic, yet deadly and fiery. Given how dangerous volcanoes can be, you might be surprised to learn that roughly 800 million people live within 100 kilometres of an active volcano. That’s about 9% of Earth’s population!
