In the pilot episode, it will feature Joanna Lumley describing her horrific attempt to appear edgy at a Halloween party as well as her ongoing fued with 'She Who Must Not Be Named' (Vorderman).
I was going to attempt to act this myself, and I can kind of half do a decent-ish Joanna Lumley posh totty voice myself... however, being a man, it's a bit of a strain on the ol' vocal chords and I'm limiting myself to an impression, whereas I need somebody who is able to do the voice but also act the role whilst keeping the impression fairly intact.
It's simply reading from a script, so there's no need to remember anything. It's roughly around 40 minutes in length, however, recording time will obviously be longer than that as comedically nearly every line matters. There's certain beats, pacing, intonations required throughout and in an audio format it's important to get those right, as we don't have visuals to fall back on. But I'm a friendly, fun director - so it should all be splendid :)
Recording can be done at mine, however if possible, could be recorded at yours too as I live near train tracks, this job literally can come to you!
Age is unimportant, if you can do the voice well and can act the part correctly, then nothing else matters :)
Once completed and edited, I'll be sending to producers and uploading online in an attempt to gain a listenership, so who knows what might come from it?
In regards to submissions/applications I will need a 45 second audio submission to make sure you're right for the role and can nail the style of delivery. Remember, I'm seeking the idea of a celebrity reading their own autobiography, and if need of comic inspiration, have a quick look on youtube and listen to Alan Partridge reading one of his biographies.
I'm a comedy writer/director and my work can be viewed after application.
