You'd ideally need a portable piano/keyboard, PA system and head mic to perform the job.
You'd need to be a competent pianist and singer, a good teacher/leader and be able to make the sessions fun and engaging for the 50+ amateur singers at each session. Choir leading experience not necessarily essential depending on other skills/experience.
Ability to follow a minimum 3-part vocal score with piano accompaniment is essential, and to be able to break the score down into learnable chunks for the choir, who don't use sheet music but learn from listening to you and following their lyrics. The piano is used when learning each song but we use backing tracks to perform and rehearse to as the song comes together. We also incorporate simple choreography into performances so this may well be something you'd need to cover in the sessions (mostly step/clap/click etc, nothing too complicated - usually!).
You'd be given plenty of notice as to when work would be available, and you'd receive a breakdown of what material is to be covered in the sessions. You'd be given all resources needed with plenty of time to familiarise yourself with them before the sessions.
This would suit a musician who is looking for casual ad hoc evening work. It's likely that I'd be looking for cover for a whole week (Mon-Thurs) or more at a time, but may sometimes be the odd day. At present I cannot say how frequently I'd need cover.
The right person would be able to maintain high standards whilst retaining a sense of fun and the ability to laugh at oneself.
Please send through whatever you think gives me the best idea of your skills - whether it's video of you in action or a biography, CV etc.
