We're based in Melbourne in Australia, so we'll be doing your voice recording here - unless you have good sound facilities and want to record it at your place, in which case you can be based anywhere!
About the film: it's comic, it's cold, it's dry, it's highly pretentious and it'll be shot in black and white (we DID say that it's highly pretentious, right?). The only words are the internal monologue of the single character.
Unfortunately, as skint amateurs, nobody is getting paid on this gig, though we have won awards at festivals for both drama and comedy and we are aiming to put this into the circuit too - hopefully we'll pick up a laurel or two again.
About your application - either you'll be able to point us towards an appropriate link on StarNow where we can hear your voice or you can record a sample and attach it. The narration voiceover in the film will encompass the following mood string, so the voice sample you submit should be :
*Intelligent, morose, cynical, acerbic, condescending, cold, arthouse.
Questions that we'll put in the applications will be:
1 Is your French Native, Fluent or Other?
2 Where is the link to a sample that we may listen to?
Audition / Rehearsal / Production datesProbably June/July 2020, depending on lockdown restrictions.
This job is unpaid
Voiceover/Translator (from English to French)
You're narrating the internal monologue of the protagonist. He's a cynical and somewhat bitter person, who probably did too many existentialist novels in his youth. There is a higher probability that a male voice will fit, but we're not wedded to that, so although the protagonist remains male (he's already been cast), a female voice might add an interesting surreal touch. Show us what you've got!
Anyone, aged 18 and over
- Languages: French
Applications closed 4 June 2020.
