WHAT'S THE PROJECT?
A five minute documentary produced for assessment and possible short film festival purposes. The documentary will tell a digital horror story about two young women's experiences with "Ethan", a young and charismatic uni student whose self-proclaimed "toxic coping skills" quickly translate to manipulation, coercion and blackmail. "Snake" will be an intimate exploration of revenge porn, gaslighting and the "nice guy" myth, told through narration and interview, and will feature stylistic reenactment and B-roll (think "My Scientology Story" or "Casting Jon Benet"). Reenactment will include physical interpretation of scenes with characters communicating online, as well as one or two scripted sequences.
EXPERIENCE & OUTCOMES
I've directed two previous works at JMC Academy as a current Bachelor degree student. My primary interests are writing and directing, and I also have an artistic background. I would like the experience to be highly collaborative, and invite burgeoning actors/models with a creative vision of their own to audition. Given the unknown outcome of most documentaries, managing expectations will be a must, but potentially I'd love to enter this piece into some short film festivals.

Female lead
"Adele" met Ethan online and became friendly with him during COVID-19. The two got along well but he could often be overbearing about getting enough attention and would often flaunt his apparent success with women. Adele is interested in someone else, but flirted with Ethan often. After drinking heavily one night, Ethan harasses Adele for a naked picture, and she mistakenly relents (this is not shown). Adele is outspoken, pessimistic and introspective, but struggles to set personal boundaries.

Female Secondary Lead
"Ally", ex-girlfriend of Ethan. They dated for 14 months, but he grew progressively controlling towards her (only letting her do activities he approved of, needing her to be constantly available to him). Their relationship goes downhill after he films the two of them without her knowledge. She is polite, well-mannered and sweet but has a quick-wit and biting tongue if the situation requires it.

Male Antagonist
"Ethan" has dated Ally previously and had some romantic interest in Adele. Two weeks after meeting Adele online, Ethan sends Adele a message from Ally's instagram account posing as her, warning Adele to tell Ethan if she is romantically interested in him or not. Ethan spends much of his relationships with both Ally and Adele lying to them and attempting to control them. Ethan is arrogant, narcissistic, intelligent and easily irritated.
