Hi everyone, we are a group of experienced film students from MFA program at Victoria University of Wellington, hoping to produce a thought-provoking work that will resonate with the audience.

Story Overview of Ghar Jane Do:
Asha, a transgender woman and our protagonist, is left reeling after she’s told of her father’s terminal status - the same father who threw her out of the house years earlier. Wrestling with the memories of the lowest moment in her life, Asha returns home to face her family. Ghar Jane Do contrasts these two moments in Asha’s life - the rejection of her younger self and the return years later.

This film focuses on the complex familial dynamics of an immigrant Indian family in New Zealand, and deals with themes such as familial rejection, the LGBT experience, and how this intersects with the immigrant experience.
