For the voiceover, there is a short script which describes the setting for the world of the book, in a vague enough manner to give a mysterious tease of what it’s all about.
There are two primary different styles to attempt for the recording of the voiceover; the most appropriate take will then be selected.
The first style is something vaguely ethereal and ominous sounding; a fairly soft and slow delivery with long pauses between sentences, juxtaposing the gentle nature of the delivery with the unnerving content of the message.
The second variation would be a delivery in the style of an announcement via public service broadcast, or something like that. This would be flatter, harsher, more to the point, sharper in tone etc.
Applicants should ideally have access to their own home recording studio/equipment.
For the actual recording process, I would direct the performance over the phone, we’d do numerous takes, and then I’d require the audio file to be transferred over to me.
The script for the project is very short, as is the intended length of the teaser trailer, so the recording session should theoretically be a fairly brief.
Audition / Rehearsal / Production datesTo be arranged based on what suits both parties.
