Casting roles for a powerful period drama based on a true story.

'A High Price for Ginger Beer' is the story of Clarice Tovey, a 17-year-old girl who grapples with guilt when an inquest is held into the death of her baby nephew who drowned under her watch. But it is up to Florence to see that her sister doesn't also drown in her own grief. It's the story of faith, redemption, and sisterhood at its heart. I want to show that the path to healing can only start when you learn to forgive yourself. Clarice must let go of the past to allow herself to come to terms with it and be able to move forward. The film also touches on the 'what if' - the words Clarice, like so many others, repeats to herself in longing for a different story, a different outcome.

The film is being produced by Dream Hive Films, a film production company I started a few years ago, which looks for humanity, light, and shade in all stories. You can have a look at our previous work here: www.dreamhivefilms.com.

Some of our previous shorts have been fortunate enough to win and be selected for some really fantastic film festivals including Birmingham Film Festival & LA Film Awards. Upon completion, I'm hoping to send 'A High Price' down a similar path as I truly believe it's a message that really needs to be heard.

Unfortunately, the roles are expenses only, as this is a completely self-funded passion project with all & any profits made going to The Good Grief Trust, which helps and supports families and friends affected by sudden bereavement: https://www.thegoodgrieftrust.org/. That being said, we do have a really fantastic crew on board and I really believe we can make this a very special film and an enjoyable & rewarding shoot.

Filming will take place on Friday 12th-Sunday 14th November in Petworth, West Sussex. Some roles will only be needed for one day.

The owner of this listing has agreed to abide by local 'working with children' regulations. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
