Set in the week leading up to the Millennium, the 45 minute play follows one man’s aim to turn his life around and rediscover himself after years of losing himself in his tedious job and isolated lifestyle. A moral panic triggered by the ‘Millennium bug’ provides him with a chance to save the world and rediscover his long lost passion for music.

The project is based at the University of Lincoln.

This is an unpaid student project, but able to give a copy of the piece for portfolio uses.

Main role - Graham

Male lead. Southern (or ability to act in accent) as character is from Surrey. Main voice throughout the drama piece. Playing a reserved, shy character who's confidence grows as the drama goes on. Must have the ability to sing or talk in rhythm/tune. Playing age 47.

Male, aged 36 to 50

Female actress - Ann (love interest)

Ann is the love interest in the drama. She works in the same building as Graham. Ann comes across as shy but is in fact a strong female with a warm heart, who acts as Graham's support and guides him in the right direction. Any accent. Not required to sing. Playing age 41.

A traditional, middle class lady. Fusses over her son (Graham), and also quite worried about him and his tendency to isolate himself. Playing age 70 (actresses preferred to sound around this age or older, even if they are not) Southern accent (or ability to act in accent) as character lives in Surrey. Not required to sing.

A traditional, middle class man. Traditional outlook and values with concerns about his son and his reserved manner, yet struggles to express his affection.
