I can also be found on Mandy.
In the past, I have done some small voiceover work for a locally produced DVD as well as having a small role in a Young People's performance of Macbeth. I have studied drama for A-Level and achieved an A grade for performance at GCSE. I am now studying on the Acting at the Univeristy of St Mark and St John and have just completed my first professional tour with The Actors Wheel: 'King Lear' in which I played Cordelia. I have also done some extras work for the second series of Delicious.
I am currently working with a Murder Mystery Company called Candlelight operating in the South West area.
I am a member of and have attended TR2 (Theatre Royal) classes and have some experience through small performances with this group. I have also attended workshops to have the opportunity to work with a range of genres and skills. Through this I have studied the works of Shakespeare and George Orwell as well as a range of skills and mediums including physical theatre and styalisation. With a strong interest in writing, I frequently write my own projects.
From an early age, I have always been someone to question things: from minor things such as beans or spaghetti, to random things, would I prefer to be a boy or pony? In musing these scenarios I would often imagine what it might be like to be somewhere, something, someone else. Then I started drama and gradually discovered that this was the perfect way to try all these things and still be me. Initially I didn’t make this link. I was shy and found drama intimidating, however once I realised that it was not me on the stage but the character I was playing, I found a curiosity to step into more stories. How else can one experience the hatred and passion a murderer feels to kill, yet still be free to go home at the end of the day. It now excites me to think of all the people I can be or how many worlds I can visit in one day, being able to travel without travelling. As an empathic person, I find it easy to connect to other people’s feelings. I believe this allows me to take on the roles of other characters as I can relate to their situation and step into their shoes. I love to see the pleasure my performance can give to others too and this motivates me further.
For GCSE, we put a twist on Love, Love, Love and I played a female version of Jamie, a particularly interesting venture as it meant editing pieces of the script and thoroughly exploring and creating a character as it had never been done before. For my AS piece I played Angie from Top Girls, someone who is both childish and mature, especially with my added monologues to display her thoughts, in one of which we implicated her desire to murder her ‘mother’. I enjoyed portraying both of these roles as it allowed me to delve into a character and bring out something new from the script material we were given. When studying Vinegar Tom we were challenged to create a monologue for a character using Stanislavski’s Emotion Memory. I found this both fascinating and helpful as it allowed me to unpick the character and recreate a piece from the important elements. As Susan was not the main character it allowed me to use minimalist given details in order to create and shape my performance. I have studied physical theatre and taken part in various workshops including Frantic Assembly and Propeller which taught me ways to utilise space and movement and work on improvising character realistically. I have undertaken voiceover work for a small locally produced DVD and taken part in small shows.
I undertook voluntary work with a local Drama Club with whom I had the opportunity to lead activities and co-direct their piece for the Shakespeare School Festival. I gained experience in putting on a show and in teaching warm-ups, games, casting roles and workshops. I was able to attend professional workshops with professional actors working on performance skills.
A competent horsewoman, I have ridden horses regularly since age nine and have my own pony, as well as gaining up to level five in ABRS Equitation tests and level four in Stable Management. I have some musical experience in Piano and Guitar and dancing experience with some basic Ballet. I have Equity student membership.
